About the CourseThe Advanced Course focuses on preparing players (junior and adult) to perform at competition level. The course goes into further depth on coaching the strokes and tactics of tennis using the Game Based Approach. Emphasis is also on helping coaches to technically diagnose and correct. Advanced drills and games will be integrated into each of the stroke production modules. Coaches will learn advanced singles and doubles tactics, how to analyse matches, and how to prepare players mentally and physically for competition. Coaches also study areas of sports science including biomechanics, fitness, nutrition, mental training, and periodisation. Other important aspects to be covered include injury prevention and tennis for people with disabilities. Coaches will also further develop skills gained from the Development Coaching Course such as communication skills, managing legal issues and how to manage and promote their coaching businesses.

Advanced Coaching CourseThe TCAWA Advanced Course is a 36 hour course. Upcoming dates and venues are as follows:

  • Saturday, July 17, 1pm-6:30pm, St Hildas Anglican School
  • Sunday, July 18, 8am-5:30pm, St Hildas Anglican School
  • Saturday, July 24, 1pm-6:30pm, St Hildas Anglican School
  • Sunday, July 25, 8am-5:30pm, St Hildas Anglican School
  • August 1, Assessment times and details TBA, St Hildas Anglican School

The course covers a range of theoretical and practical sessions including: Injury Prevention, Nutrition, Groundstrokes, Net Play, Serve and Serve Return, Movement, Principles of Fitness, Movement, Physical Conditioning, Mental Training, Communication Skills, Travelling with Players, Other Advanced Strokes, Biomechanics of Tennis, Match Analysis, Periodisation for Tennis, Tennis Equipment, Tennis for People with Disabilities, Marketing your Business and Legal Responsibilities of the Coach.

Attendance at all sessions is compulsory.
