
About the CourseThis course is designed to be an introduction to coaching tennis. The aim of the course is to provide general coaching principles and tennis specific information to individuals such as teachers, parents, and recreation staff, who are involved in introducing tennis to beginner players. The emphasis is on using a Game Based Approach to coach tennis.
Entry RequirementsNo player entry standards. Entry age – 14 years. Course length – four hours.
The following sections are covered:
• Principles of coaching.
• Basic tennis coaching games and activities.
Next CourseCost: $50 per person, or $400 per club/business
Assistant Coach Course (Formerly OTC)This course is also particularly useful for assistant coaches only doing a few hours per week and not wanting to do the entire Development Course. Held over a 4 hr period the course covers the following:
- All Basic Strokes
- Grips
- Ball Feed
- Class Formation
- Drills
- Analysis and Correction
There will be an assessment at the end of the course. This is not a prerequisite for the Development Coaching course, although it can be used as a stepping stone into this.
A Certificate of Competency to work with an assistant to a TCA Qualified Coach will be issued on completion of the course and an insurance package with be offered.
